Overview Jan's Beach House Grill

Discover Jan's Beach House Grill, a lively seafood and American comfort-food restaurant at 850 Eastern Blvd #850, Montgomery, AL 36117, United States. With beach-inspired décor, a full bar, live music, and a menu built around seafood and Southern sides, this local favorite brings a little coastal personality to central Alabama. From a food blogger’s perspective, Jan's Beach House Grill works especially well for diners who prefer generous portions and relaxed hospitality over polished fine dining.

The menu moves comfortably between seafood platters, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and homestyle vegetables. Current ordering prices include a lunch Fish Platter for $13.95, Hamburger Steak for $15.95, and dinner Seafood Combo Platter for $24.95. The impressive Beach House Platter for Two costs about $32.95 and includes fish fingers, shrimp or oysters, four sides, and hushpuppies. Takeout, seating, parking, wheelchair accessibility, highchairs, table service, televisions, alcoholic drinks, and a full bar are available.

A signature order at Jan's Beach House Grill in Montgomery is the Beach House Platter for Two. The combination of fish fingers with grilled or fried shrimp—or fried oysters—makes it particularly good for sharing. Crisp seafood, golden hushpuppies, fries, corn, salad, or slaw create the kind of abundant Southern seafood spread that rewards a big appetite. A March 2025 customer summed up the value well: “It was a lot of food. I actually think it is underpriced.”

The Fried Green Tomatoes are another dish worth ordering. Thick slices are breaded and fried for a crunchy exterior while keeping the center juicy and distinctly tangy. They currently cost about $9.95 as an appetizer, and customer feedback repeatedly highlights them for their thickness, seasoning, and balanced breading. Pair them with fried seafood for a meal that feels unmistakably Southern.

For a seafood-focused main, the Fish Platter is one of the safest bets. Fish can be ordered fried, grilled, or blackened and comes with two sides plus bread or hushpuppies. Recent diners have particularly praised grouper and fish fingers, noting good seasoning and portions. The Seafood Combination, fried oysters, catfish, and crab claws also rank among frequently ordered favorites.

The atmosphere gives Jan's Beach House Grill much of its identity. Beach-themed decorations, a casual bar setting, and regular live music make it feel more like a laid-back coastal hangout than a conventional Montgomery restaurant. Customers frequently mention friendly staff and a sociable atmosphere, although one recent visitor noted that the facility feels somewhat worn, and another reported difficulty getting seated despite the restaurant not being busy.

Dessert provides an easy finishing touch, with Key Lime Pie at about $5.95, Bread Pudding at $6.95, and Chocolate Mousse Cake at $7.95. For anyone exploring the best restaurants in Montgomery for relaxed local dining experiences, Jan's Beach House Grill deserves consideration for generous seafood platters, Southern sides, live entertainment, and approachable prices. Call +1 334-277-8300 and stop by for a casual meal with plenty of beach-house character.

This place was amazing. They have a wide range of lunch specials from Beach vibe to Southern style to fancier dishes. They have a meat and three available until 3:00 p.m. that changes daily and lunch special prices until 4:00 p.m. Various nights they offer live music and have a full bar. (I highly recommend the watermelon martini.) Also, the fried green tomatoes are some of the best this Southern gal has ever tried. The rest of my veggie plate consisted of broccoli, squash and onions, and a side salad with champagne vinaigrette served with cornbread muffin. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, Fancy Nancy was wonderful and took good care of me. It was very difficult to resist their specialty key lime pie or bread pudding but I succeeded today. (It just gives me a reason to come back.) Which I will definitely do. This is a very inexpensive and tasty way to have a meal in Montgomery alabama.

Stopped by for lunch yesterday because it was close to the job site. I'm glad we did. The food is excellent. It reminds me of what my grandmother would cook. It was so good, we went back for lunch today and we'll probably go back tomorrow for lunch. The prices for what you get are great!! I was so hungry today, I forgot to take a picture of my food. The staff is friendly. We even met a local and we talked about his Air Force days for probably 20 minutes. Everyone is so friendly in Alabama.

I had a wonderful first time experience today for lunch! Since I’m a truck driver and have to deliver at Sam’s Club in the morning, I looked for some place that was not the everyday food choice and an so glad I found Jan’s Beach House Grill! I was greeted by a delightful smell of Coconut/ beach smell and great food and was seated by a sweet lady and she said she hoped I hadn’t been waiting long. I went into the restroom first to wash my hands before I sat down, and told her that. That decorations and flamingos and beach themed obviously and very tasteful. I was told before I got here that they were closing soon, ( a car dealership made an offer the owners couldn’t refuse) so they would be busy. I came in around 1pm for lunch and indeed they were busy, which means the food is great!!! Right away I noticed the great prices!! I’m sure that’s one of the big draws here!!!! SUPER SERVER Josh greeted me and got my drink order back to me quickly and then I asked him what his favorites were. ( I almost always ask my servers that question) I ordered the grilled fish ( grouper ) fingers and Josh’s favorites green beans and green fried tomatoes!! Within just a few minutes, he returned with my meal exactly as ordered and let me tell you!!!! The grilled fish was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of lemon pepper and the green beans served in a monkey dish were awesome too but the 3 THICK FRIED GREEN TOMATOES were the BOMB!! The best I’ve ever had!! Seasoned and breaded perfectly again, and because they were thick, I could taste the green in the tomato, and the seasoning weren’t to thick that it over powered and it stayed On when I cut it half!!! Deliciousness all around! I wish I lived closer and glad I could make it here . Found out that they’re not closing until APRIL ‘25 because the demolition company is so busy right now!! Good for all the regular patrons of Jan’s in Montgomery!! I’m sure they’re going to be missed!!

Not to be confused with just Jan's Seafood House, Jan's Beach House is known for seafood but has a lot more to offer. I went on a recommendation and the food was great. I got the fish fingers, gouda grits, and spicy fried mac and cheese. Finished with chocolate mousse cake. Tried it a second time over the weekend to confirm consistency and it was even better. I got the chicken bites and fries and a few cocktails from the bar and finished it off with key lime pie. It's definitely a small business owner whose place is worth a visit. Just look for flamingos on the Eastern Blvd.

This place is fantastic. They have an older ground that is dedicated to this restaurant. We heard one diner mention she comes every day. We loved the lunch options where you chose a meat and side dishes. The kids enjoyed the food, and the beach theme was cute!
